Procedure:

First, HEC conducts a test. It is conducting again. The deadline to apply is 20 September, 2025
For students who have completed their 12th grade, the test is called USAT (Undergraduate Studies Admission Test).
For students who have completed their 16th grade (Bachelor’s) or 18th grade Masters, the test is called HAT (Higher Education Aptitude Test).
The passing marks for these tests are 50 out of 100. However, to increase your chances of selection, you should aim for the highest possible score, so prepare thoroughly.
After passing, your test result is valid for two years. Whenever HEC announces a scholarship, you can apply on the basis of this test score.
Every year, scholarships are offered for Commonwealth (UK), Hungary, China, and many other countries—apply for them with this test scores as soon as they are announced.
You can get better and better scores if you attempt this test as many times as possible before applying for the scholarships

Note:

USAT is for students with 12 years of education (Intermediate/FA/FSc etc.), who are applying for Bachelors degree scholarships
HAT is for students with 16 years or 18 years of education (BS/BSc/BA/Hons, MS, MA, MSc, MPhil etc.), who are applying for Masters Scholarships and PhD Scholarships
