Scholarship Benefits

Recipients of the GIST Scholarship can expect a comprehensive package that typically includes:
1. Tuition Assistance
  • Full tuition is covered: 3,607,000 KRW per semester (no payment required by the student).
2. Monthly Stipends
  • M.S. Students:
    • Monthly stipend: 140,000 KRW
    • Meal allowance: 100,000 KRW (conditional on completing a minimum credit load)
    • International student allowance: 120,000 KRW (for those with a GPA ≥ 3.0/4.5 in the previous semester)
  • Ph.D. Students:
    • Monthly stipend: 295,000 KRW
    • Meal allowance: 100,000 KRW (conditional on completing a minimum credit load)
    • International student allowance: 120,000 KRW (for those with a GPA ≥ 3.0/4.5 in the previous semester)
3. Research Assistantship
  • M.S.: 6,334,000 KRW Annually(typically annual or by program policy)
  • Ph.D.: 12,541,000 KRW Annually (typically annual or by program policy)
4. Health Insurance
  • 60% of the national health insurance fee is covered.
  • 100% coverage for the annual medical checkup.
5. Flight Reimbursement
  • One-time reimbursement for a one-way flight to Korea.

Application Process

The application process is streamlined and typically involves the following steps:
  1. Online Registration:
    Create an account on the GIST scholarship application portal before 14 April, 2025
  2. Professor Contact
    You can contact the relevant professors before submitting applications (how? read this guide: https://gradwinner.com/articles/korea-scholarship-guide-ms-phd). If professor does not reply, you can fill the application before deadline, with his/her name in application. It is not mandatory to have professor contact before application, for details, read guide. 
  1. Complete the Application Form:
    Fill in your personal information, academic history, and chosen field of study.
  2. Upload Required Documents:
    Prepare and submit scanned copies of all required documents (see document checklist below).
  3. Submission and Review:
    After submission, your application will be reviewed by the admissions team. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview or further documentation.
  4. Notification of Results:
    Successful applicants will receive an official admission notice by email along with instructions for enrollment, including details on visa application and further registration steps.
IELTS or TOEFL is not required, you can get conditional admission if use English Proficiency letter from your university. Successful students admitted to GIST with conditional admission due to unavailability of official English test results (IELTS/TOEFL) must, within 6 months from the date of admission, submit official English test results that meet the application criteria of the Institute. Sometimes Korean Embassy can also as for English Test Scores (IELTS or TOEFL)
