Financial Support in Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)

The HKPFS provides the following financial support for up to three years :

Monthly Stipend A monthly stipend of HK$28,400 (approximately US$3,620 to US$3,650) is provided to each awardee. This amounts to an annual stipend of HK$340,800.
Travel Allowance An annual allowance of HK$14,200 (approximately US$1,820) is provided for conference and research-related travel.

How to apply ??

You can contact professors of your choice early, before they finalize other candidates for their labs/ supervision, you reserve your place early especially technical major people and Do not Bombard professor emails with your incomplete and irrelevant CVs etc, study professor profile well and make a good email and topic and CV, then email professor.
You can still choose the university and apply for it as later the interview panel will decide about your application, but it is good to have Professor connection before as it increases your chances of selection and studentships also.

For HPKFS, IELTS/ TOEFL scores is must. For Studentships (Professor Project Funding), English Proficiency Letter from parent university can work also

Professors are nowadays finding students

** Interesting fact: Often it has been observed that if you are not selected on HPKFS scheme, and your profile looks good to professor. Then professors at Hong Kong University can fund your Masters or PhD or MS leading to PhD on their lab or Lab Project's funding. So, try to contact the professors for HPKFS in a very good way. It is also called studentship sometimes

"A good proposal, for better chance try getting IELTS with minimum 6.5 bands, a good motivation letter and strong recommendations as well. Contacting supervisor will be an added benefit, but it is not mandatory. Usually, interviewing panel decides about your supervisor after looking at your proposal and interview. But, if you are lucky enough to find a supervisor ready to supervise will increase your chances for fellowship or postgraduate studentship. So, find your relevant professors now"
